Congratulations to the 2010 Graham & Dunn Memorial Scholarship Recipients Gloria Boateng, a recent graduate of Rainier Beach High School, and Kenneth Roe, a recent graduate of Ballard High School. This scholarship is awarded by Graham & Dunn each year to a Seattle public high school senior who has demonstrated the ability to overcome adversity and succeed in the face of life's many obstacles. The scholarship fund was established in 1994 to honor deceased members of the firm by enhancing the opportunity for others to realize their full scholastic and professional potential.
This year Graham & Dunn received a record number of applicants. The firm typically only awards one scholarship, but this year not only was the scholarship committee tied between the impressive applications of Gloria and Kenneth, when the committee asked the firm to vote in order to help the committee make a decision, the firm tied in votes as well. In a generous gesture of the firm's shareholders, the firm decided to double the size of the scholarship and extend a scholarship to both Gloria and Kenneth.
Gloria will be attending the University of Washington and Kenneth will be attending North Seattle Community College. In the awards reception last night at Graham & Dunn, both students shared their aspirations and goals with many members of the firm. It was an inspiring evening and we thank Gloria and Kenneth for sharing their stories with us. Based on their already successful scholastic careers, we know this is just the beginning of their success and Graham & Dunn is honored and proud to be a part of their journeys. Best of luck to Gloria and Kenneth!
